Primeglobal - Thought Leadership
Developing future‑ready advisors in an AI‑enabled profession
Moores Rowland Indonesia argues that governance, not retreat, is the future of ESG.

Every firm’s growth ambition depends on one critical factor: having the right people to deliver it. Accounting and advisory firms around the world are facing increasing pressure to attract, develop and retain talent while preparing the next generation of leaders. At the same time, professionals are expected to adapt to new technologies, build broader advisory capabilities and respond to evolving client expectations.
Recognising this shift, PrimeGlobal's Ready for Business strategy identifies Talent and Technology as the two critical enablers that will determine whether firms can adapt, grow and thrive in the years ahead. While firms continue to invest in new technologies, the strategy recognises that success will also depend on developing professionals with the leadership, communication, critical thinking and relationship-building skills needed to translate information into meaningful client value.
One of the strongest messages we heard during the development of our strategy was that while technical learning remains important, firms were looking for ways to develop future leaders, strengthen succession pipelines and give emerging talent exposure to different perspectives. That's where an association can play a unique role by bringing professionals together to learn from one another in ways that individual firms often cannot achieve alone.

Why human skills matter more than ever
AI is already changing the nature of work across the profession. As routine and repetitive tasks become automated, professionals increasingly find themselves focused on more complex situations that require interpretation, professional scepticism and nuanced decision-making. Knowledge can be generated quickly; judgement remains distinctly human.
This evolution is particularly important as firms continue to expand their advisory services. Clients are looking for more than accurate information. They want advisors who understand their objectives, ask the right questions, communicate clearly and provide practical guidance tailored to their circumstances.
Bridget Sivewright, PrimeGlobal’s training and development manager says:
For accountants who want to expand into providing advisory services, the ability to leverage trust with clients is one of the most important skills to develop. Strong relationships empower clients to transition from seeing their accountant as just a compliance expert into seeing them as a trusted strategic advisor to their business.
These capabilities are often described as "soft skills", but many firms increasingly view them as core business skills. Communication, emotional intelligence, leadership, influence, commercial awareness and client relationship management are becoming essential differentiators for professionals at every level of the firm. This is particularly important for early-career professionals, who may have fewer opportunities to learn through the traditional compliance work that has historically provided a foundation for developing judgement and client readiness. As entry-level tasks become increasingly automated, firms will need to be more deliberate about creating opportunities for younger professionals to observe client interactions, learn through shadowing and develop confidence through peer-to-peer learning. Equally, leadership will increasingly be defined by a leader's ability to coach, mentor and develop others, making strong interpersonal skills just as important for today's managers as they are for the next generation of advisors.
Developing these capabilities can no longer be achieved through technical training alone. They are best cultivated through practice, coaching, collaboration and exposure to different perspectives. This is where learning and development plays a critical role.
Many firms are now taking a more deliberate approach to developing these skills, and PrimeGlobal is committed to supporting firms achieve this.

Building capability through learning
Over recent years, PrimeGlobal has expanded its learning and development portfolio into a global ecosystem of leadership programmes, business development training, peer learning communities and specialised professional education. These initiatives are designed not only to build individual capability, but also to help firms strengthen succession pipelines and prepare future leaders.
In North America, member firms can access leadership development programmes delivered in partnership with the Succession Institute, helping professionals develop the skills required to become effective leaders, business advisors and future partners. Participants benefit from extensive instruction, coaching and practical tools that can be applied immediately within their firms.
Recognising that leadership alone is not enough to drive sustainable growth, PrimeGlobal has also introduced programmes focused on business development. The Rainmaker Development Program, delivered in partnership with ConvergenceCoaching®, LLC, helps emerging leaders build confidence in client development, strengthen their personal brand and develop practical skills for generating new business opportunities.
In Latin America, PrimeGlobal recently launched its Key Account Pursuit Programmes, supporting experienced professionals and firm leaders in developing more structured approaches to winning and growing strategic client relationships. The programm, delivered with partner organisation LA CPAs, reflects increasing demand for advisory-focused growth capabilities across the profession.
Alongside these initiatives, PrimeGlobal continues to offer specialist tax training in partnership with AICPA and delivers leadership development opportunities across EMEA through its partnership with Vistage, one of the world's most respected executive coaching and peer advisory organisations.
The power of peer learning
While programme content is important, one of the most valuable aspects of PrimeGlobal's approach is the emphasis placed on peer learning and professional relationships.
Many of PrimeGlobal's programmes operate through private cohorts, creating trusted environments where participants can openly discuss challenges, exchange experiences and learn from professionals outside their own firms. These conversations often expose participants to new ideas, alternative perspectives and practical solutions that may not emerge within a single organisation.
This peer-to-peer model reflects a broader belief embedded within the association's strategy: collaboration creates value. When professionals connect across regions, service lines and markets, they build networks that continue to support learning and growth long after a formal programme concludes.
PrimeGlobal's Today’s Tomorrow Leaders Community of Practice extends this concept even further. Designed specifically for emerging leaders, the community creates opportunities for professionals from around the world to discuss industry trends, share challenges and help shape the future of the profession together.
As one participant explained:
Today's Tomorrow's Leaders is a great value for me because the discussion of interesting topics, like leadership, partner track, and company culture, and sharing experiences with young professionals in similar positions gives me so much energy and inspiration. It helps me broaden my view of our firm, gives me new ideas and it is refreshing to share my thoughts and listen to others.

Preparing the Next Generation
As firms navigate a future defined by continuous change, investing in talent development is becoming a strategic imperative rather than a discretionary activity.
The most successful firms will be those that combine technological capability with strong leadership, commercial thinking and trusted client relationships. They will be organisations that deliberately develop future leaders, create opportunities for continuous learning and build cultures that enable professionals to adapt and grow.
PrimeGlobal's Ready for Business strategy recognises that firms cannot achieve transformation through technology alone. Talent remains equally important. Through its growing portfolio of learning and development initiatives, the association is helping member firms build the capabilities, confidence and connections needed to succeed in an increasingly interconnected and advisory-focused profession.
